'Sustainable Wheat Initiative' Europe

 

The Sustainable Wheat Initiative Europe is a European Bakery Industry program to accelerate the industries’ sustainability transition through an ambitious sustainable wheat & flour initiative, that aims at reducing the carbon intensity of wheat and wheat flour by 30% by 2030.

It supports the transition of wheat farmers into sustainable agriculture and started under the impulse of La Lorraine Bakery Group together with a group of CEOs of leading bakery companies in Europe. Together they created a shared vision between the bakery industry, millers and agriculture, with overarching targets and a framework of mutual trust, to all evolve in a more efficient and coordinated way towards net zero in 2050, with a first important milestone in 2030. Since the official launch of the manifesto in June of this year, over 60 companies in the bakery value chain already signed the manifesto and joined the coalition of action.
